Some news items I thought worth your time: • The Advocate: Donald Trump called Kamala Harris & Tim Walz ‘heavy into the transgender world’ at his unhinged press conference Thursday afternoon. • New York Times: Trump also told a jaw-dropping story about nearly dying in a helicopter ride with Willie Brown, the former California politician and ex-boyfriend of his rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. Except – it was Gov. Jerry Brown, former governor of California, who bears little resemblance to Willie Brown.

• The Hill: This says a lot – Donald Trump’s former Vice President Mike Pence says he does not intend to endorse or wade into the presidential race this November, expressing concerns about the direction of the Republican Party. • Nevada Independent: A new poll of likely Nevada voters found Vice President Kamala Harris with a nearly 6 percentage point lead over Donald Trump. • Paris Olympics: Algerian Imane Khelif won welterweight gold in a unanimous decision as a large Algerian crowd at Roland-Garros Stadium cheered her on with chants of “allez Imane” and “1, 2, 3 Algérie!”
