Earlier in March, former Vice President Mike Pence announced he could not endorse his former boss, Donald Trump, for president in 2024. Now, Trump’s former Secretary of Defense, Mark Esper, has declared that he will “definitely not be voting for Trump” in the upcoming election. https://twitter.com/thedailybeast/status/1774137088104869938 From The Daily Beast:
On Friday’s episode of Real Time with Bill Maher, the host asked Mark Esper whether he would be voting for Joe Biden in the 2024 election.
“I’m definitely not voting for Trump, but I’m not there yet,” he replied. When Maher pressed him, Esper doubled-down.
“There’s no way I’ll vote for Trump, but every day that Trump does something crazy, the door to voting for Biden opens a little bit more, and that’s where I’m at,” Esper said.
“The first year of a second Trump term will look like the last year of the first Trump term, in other words, with all the craziness,” Esper explained
You may recall Trump “fired” Esper shortly after the 2020 election via tweet after Esper publicly disagreed with him about sending troops to “control” protests in American cities. There seems to be a pattern here. The folks who actually worked with Trump in the White House – died-in-the-wool Republicans – say they can’t support the former guy. https://twitter.com/randyslovacek/status/1774214731110522881
