In the lead up to the midterm elections, folks have wondered if Donald Trump might stir up the on-again, off-again fighting between the U.S. and Iran.
The assumption has been that Trump would want to keep the calm through November 3 so as not to remind voters of an unpopular war that is dragging Republican candidates down nationwide.
But yesterday, The Atlantic reported the White House had asked the Pentagon to develop strike options against Iran that could be implemented ahead of the midterms. The thinking was the Donald might want to demonstrate progress in the conflict before the vote.

That report yesterday clearly got under some orange skin as Trump pointedly addressed the issue today via social media.
“We will not be attacking Iran at anytime prior to the Midterm Elections to be held in the United States on November 3rd,” read the Donald’s missive, in part.
