Last night’s broadcast of “The Kennedy Center Honors,” which Donald Trump personally ‘hosted,’ reportedly drew its lowest ratings ever.

According to preliminary Nielsen data, “The Kennedy Center Honors” on CBS drew its smallest audience ever on the night of December 23, 2025, averaging an estimated 2.65 million viewers. To put that in perspective: the 2024 broadcast averaged 4.1 million viewers.
Do the math, and this year’s telecast represents a 35% year-over-year decline — a staggering drop for one of broadcast TV’s most traditionally reliable specials.
This follows last week’s controversial announcement that Trump’s hand-picked Board of Trustees had added his name to the revered arts center.
Prior to the event, Trump posted on his Truth Social account, “At the request of the Board, and just about everybody else in America, I am hosting the event. Tell me what you think of my ‘Master of Ceremony’ abilities.”
I guess he got his answer.
