Some news items you might have missed: • Xtra Magazine: What’s going on with Trump’s cuts to PrEP funding? The president’s freeze on foreign aid has raised many questions about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment in the U.S. and abroad. • YouTube: I came across this terrific round-up of 15 underrated gay movies you may have missed including the oh-so-romantic Nuovo Olimpo (lead photo). There are definitely several I’m making a point of revisiting soon. • The Advocate: Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker (D) delivered a blistering speech calling out the Trump administration’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies and seemingly authoritarian ambitions in his State of the State address this week. • The Hill: Nine LGBTQ, health and HIV organizations sued the Trump administration this week over executive orders targeting transgender people and DEI initiatives. • CBS Miami: Zsoft Zsolyomi, 25, is facing two counts of 2nd degree murder in Miami-Dade County. The cases date back to November and January, when police said he had befriended two elderly gay men before strangling them to death. • LGBTQ Nation: Two Ohio Democrats have proposed a state law that would make it illegal for straight men to have unprotected sex without intending to have a child. • NBC Philadelphia: Robert McCabe, a newly-fired IRS employee in Philadelphia, tells NBC10 he voted for Trump believing he would cut waste and fraud from the federal government. He just never thought he’d be seen as “waste and fraud.” Another case of not believing the leopard would eat your face.
