Trump Attacks Georgia Governor Over ‘GIANT MURDER WAVE’

The Supreme Court has refused to block the release of hundreds of documents from the Trump White Houses ought by the House committee investigating the violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol building on January 6.

Just yesterday, I shared the results of the latest CBS News/YouGov poll that surprisingly indicated Trump supporters trust Donald Trump to deliver the truth to them more than actual friends and family.

That crossed my mind today as I came across Trump’s latest social media screed attacking Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for a “GIANT MURDER WAVE.” Yet another lie that the Donald’s followers will buy at face value.

From Trump’s Truth Social account:

Governor Kemp of Georgia is fighting hard against the Impeachment of the crooked, incompetent, & highly partisan D.A. of Fulton County, Fani Willis, who has allowed Murder and other Violent Crime to MASSIVELY ESCALATE. Crime in Atlanta is WORST IN NATION. She should be impeached for many reasons, not just the Witch Hunt (I did nothing wrong!). Willis should focus on out of control Murder, not “I will get TRUMP” over a Perfect Phone Call. Georgia does not deserve this GIANT MURDER WAVE!

To begin with, Trump’s attacks on Willis are no surprise because she announced Trump’s latest criminal charges last week regarding trying to change the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

Trump threw Kemp in there because the governor is trying to stay out of the “election fraud” enchilada. Some far-right legislators in the Peach State are trying to get Willis impeached as punishment for doing her job, and he’s not going along with the scheme.

Kemp has also clapped back at Trump for continuing to lie about Georgia’s 2020 election being “stolen.”

But the hilarious (and wildly inaccurate) part of Trump’s deranged diatribe was declaring Atlanta (Fulton County) as having the “worst” crime in the nation. And he even got specific by ending with an all-caps “GIANT MURDER WAVE.”

Atlanta ranks 11th in the nation in terms of murder rates per capita. And the number of homicides in the city has fallen for the past two years.

It’s worth noting, however, that the three cities in the U.S. with the highest number of homicides per capita are all in red states. So, there’s that.
