• Texas Tribune: A new lawsuit is challenging Gov. Greg Abbott’s directive to investigate parents who provide gender-affirming care to their transgender children. According to the lawsuit, a 16-year-old transgender boy tried to kill himself the same day that Abbott issued the child abuse directive.

• Out: The 40th Annual Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival will open with the world premiere of Billy Porter’s directorial debut Anything’s Possible. The film is being described as “an uplifting teenage romance about an unflappable trans girl and a charming cis boy navigating a senior year relationship.”
• New Music: Randy Report favorite Nieri drops his new romantic, ethereal single, “In Our Eyes.” The chill synth-pop track is airy and subdued with a vibe meant for romance.
The moody, intimate music video is set in futuristic, otherworldly garden of Eden.
• RawStory: A Washington D.C. chiropractor was arrested for his alleged participation in the January 6 invasion of the U.S. Capitol building. Body camera footage shows the chiropractor grabbing a baton held by D.C. Metropolitan police officer Jeffrey Smith, who was later struck in the head with a metal pole and punched in the face. The officer took his life days later.
• Reuters: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy warned that millions of people could starve because of a Russian blockade of Ukraine’s Black Sea ports which he said had left the world “on the brink of a terrible food crisis.”
