Candi & Randy Show: “New Beginnings – Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014”

Great show with my co-host Candi Fox on The Candi & Randy Show.

Candi and I wrap up the year that was 2013. We talk Duck Dynasty, LGBT progress, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears and much more.

This show is my last appearance as a regular host of The Candi & Randy Show. No fights, no disagreements – just life is pulling both Candi and I in many directions, and in honoring my commitments I had to make a decision to take a hiatus from the show.

I’m so thankful to my fab co-host Candi for teaching me so much over two and a half years about hosting a radio show, interviewing guests and learning to open up when it comes to “talk radio.” I couldn’t have had a better time.

I’ll be back as a guest host when Candi might need me, and happy to do so.

Listen in as Candi and I recap the year that was 2013 and look forward to what 2014 holds for us all.

By the way – we are almost at half a million listeners.  So if you hit play and listen to the first minute I’d be very appreciative as that gives us the “hit”… Plus, we’re pretty fun 🙂

Those we lost in 2013 – original Mickey Mouse Club star and America’s sweetheart Annette Funicello

As 2013 winds down, my radio show co-host and I are looking back at some of our favorite episodes that seemed to get a big reaction and resonate with our audience.

On April 8th, when Annette Funicello passed away, Candi and I both had a visceral response to get on the air and celebrate the life and career of this all-American icon.

In a quick half hour prep/research rush, we found a lot of facts and stories about Annette’s life that we didn’t know. Next thing we knew, we were on the air we sharing those facts throughout the show.  Tens of thousands listened in as we took to the air armed with music and facts of her life and career.

The breakout star of the original Mickey Mouse Club, going on to star in the iconic 1960s “Beach Party” movies with Frankie Avalon, Annette became a part of pop culture forever.

Plus we discuss the topic of Multiple Sclerosis, the disease that daunted her for decades.

Listen in as we share a lot of her fun music and celebrate the life of Annette Funicello.

Music legend Judy Collins on The Candi & Randy Show

How amazing is this? I had the chance to speak with Grammy Award-winner/music legend Judy Collins about her new Christmas CD “Christmas with Judy Collins.” Hit the player below to listen.

Her stunning rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from her landmark 1967 album, Wildflowers, has been entered into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Judy’s dreamy and sweetly intimate version of Stephen Sondheim’s “Send in the Clowns”  won “Song of the Year” at the 1975 Grammy Awards. Add to all that several top-ten hits gold- and platinum-selling albums, plus her books and painting, this is one uber-creative artist.

Music critics have called her voice “liquid silver.” Performing over 100 concerts a year, Judy Collins reflects on her career, the world that inspires her and how she approaches her creative life.

She is a modern day Renaissance woman who is also an accomplished painter, filmmaker, record label head, musical mentor, and an in-demand keynote speaker for mental health and suicide prevention. She continues to create music of hope and healing that lights up the world and speaks to the heart.

Jim Caruso of “Cast Party” stops by The Candi & Randy Show

Jim Caruso from NYC’s “Cast Party” dropped by The Candi & Randy Show today to talk about bringing the best party in town to Las Vegas at the Smith Center’s Cabaret Jazz.

Jim Caruso’s “Cast Party” is a wildly popular weekly soiree that brings a sprinkling of Broadway glitz and urbane wit to the legendary Birdland in New York City every Monday night since 2003.

“Cast Party” is a cool cabaret night-out enlivened by a hilariously impromptu variety show. Showbiz superstars hit the stage alongside up-and-comers, serving up jaw-dropping music and general razzle-dazzle.

Jim guides the entire affair like a bubbly cruise director, musical director Billy Stritch holds court at the ivories and the audience is invited to participate in the festivities!  Cast Party has been honored with two BroadwayWorld Awards, a MAC Award, Bistro Award and a Nightlife Award.

It’s the party that would happen if somehow David Letterman and Ed Sullivan threw a hip house party around a nine-foot concert grand piano!

Don’t miss Jim and Billy in Las Vegas on October 9th at Cabaret Jazz at the Smith Center at 9:30pm

Check out my interview with Jim Caruso below:
