Sen. Ted Cruz still out of touch with America

In the bulk of an interview previewed earlier this week, Sen. Ted Cruz defended himself from the charge that he had caused the shutdown.

When Karl insisted that “there never would have been a shutdown if you hadn’t gone with this strategy of saying, ‘we’re not going to even fund the government for six weeks unless we can defund Obamacare,” Cruz reasoned that “There never would have been a shutdown if Harry Reid and President Obama hadn’t said, ‘We will not compromise. We will not negotiate. Shut the government down.'”

The fact of the matter is never before in the history of the US has a budget negotiation been predicated on repealing existing law.

And further – it bears pointing out that the Affordable Care Act IS the negotiated result. What President Obama and Dems wanted was not what we ended up with. The Repubs in Congress “negotiated” down to this.

AND it is helping millions of people. Lower rates (my own are going down $2,000 a year), plus people with pre-existing conditions can get coverage as well as young Americans up to the age of 26. These are all good things.

It’s as if Ted Cruz just keeps repeating what he wants America to believe, and through repetition – like hypnosis – the country will just believe.

My apologies, but the man seems delusional.

Houston Chronicle regrets endorsing Sen. Ted Cruz

From the Houston Chronicle:

Does anyone else miss Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison? We’re not sure how much difference one person could make in the toxic, chaotic, hyperpartisan atmosphere in Washington, but if we could choose just one it would be Hutchison, whose years of service in the Senate were marked by two things sorely lacking in her successor, Ted Cruz.

When we endorsed Ted Cruz in last November’s general election, we did so with many reservations and at least one specific recommendation – that he follow Hutchison’s example in his conduct as a senator. Obviously, he has not done so.

Cruz has been part of the problem in specific situations where Hutchison would have been part of the solution. We feel certain she would have worked shoulder to shoulder with Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, in crafting a workable solution that likely would have avoided the government shutdown altogether.

But we’ll never know.

Ultra-conservative Sen. Ted Cruz wins 2013 Values Voter Summit straw poll

Sen. Ted Cruz won the 2013 Values Voter Summit straw poll with 42%.  Rick Santorum came in a distance second at 13%.

It should be noted that past “winners” of the same presidential straw poll include Sen. Ron Paul, Gov. Mike Huckabee and Gov. Mike Pence.  And we all know how those “presidential” campaigns ended.

Interesting that the Values Voters, many of whom refuse to believe in the “authenticity” of President Obama’s presidency because they don’t believe he was born in the USA are content with a ultra-conservative politician born in Canada.

Jon Stewart on Ted Cruz’ misguided 21 hour waste of tax payers time

Jon Stewart is on a classic roll with Sen. Ted Cruz’ rambling, useless 21 hour diatribe on the floor of the US Senate:

In response to Cruz’ now famous reading of Green Eggs and Ham – “So to express your opposition to Obamacare, you go to the book about a stubborn jerk who decides he hates something before he’s tried it, and when he finally gets a taste, he has to admit after he’s tasted it, ‘This is pretty fucking good.’”

Fox News Sunday receives “research ammo” on Sen. Ted Cruz by fellow GOPers

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas

So it seems establishment Republicans are not happy with Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas. So much so that they are sending ammunition to “hammer” him with before his appearance on Fox News Sunday:

“Since we announced that Ted Cruz was going to be on the show, I’ve been getting background research and questions going after Cruz not from Democrats but from other Republicans,” Wallace said on Fox 5. “They really feel he has put them in this corner that they can’t get out of gracefully and they’re not very happy with him.”

Cruz has been pushing the defund Obamacare movement for months, but after House Speaker John Boehner decided his caucus would go along with his plan and pass a budget without Obamacare funding, Cruz suddenly balked, admitting he didn’t have the votes to pass the bill in the Senate.

Texas Rep. Blake Farenthold cannot say President Obama was “legitimately” elected

On Hardball last night, Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas chatted with host Chris Matthews about a number of issues.

At one point Matthews asked about Sen. Ted Cruz’s eligibility to run for President, because he was born in Canada. Matthews has long maintained that Cruz, who has an American mother, is indeed eligible to be president. However, many in the Tea Party maintain that President Obama was not legitimately elected because they don’t believe he was born in Hawaii even though the Republican governor of the state released his birth certificate.

“I believe he’s (Cruz) is eligible. He had an American mother. I believe you’re a natural born citizen. Do you agree with that?” Matthews asked the congressman.

Farenthold replied, “Listen, we’ve had this discussion on Obama… He’s as eligible as Obama is.”

Ultimately, Matthews said, “Can you repeat after me: he was legitimately elected president.”

Farenthold repeated, but with a key word left out: “President Obama was elected president”

“Legitimately,” said Matthews.

“The people elected him,” Farenthold said, refusing to say “legitimately.”

Matthews concluded: “Everybody watching knows what you’re doing. You’re dodge balling.”

What is with these people? SRSLY.

Donald Trump isn’t sure Ted Cruz is a natural born American

So many wild and ego-based things come out of Trump’s mouth.

I’m no fan of Ted Cruz, but if his mother was American (this is where Trump would inject “IF – IF she was American. I’m not so sure about that”) then he’s a natural born American.

Trump must be needing to up his profile again for some reason…
