‘Death to the Gays’ Pastor Kevin Swanson told his ‘Christian’ radio show audience that international pop star Taylor Swift is “a fool” and “God will cut her down” for her support of the LGBTQ community.
Swift’s latest single, “You Need To Calm Down,” is intended as a pro-LGBTQ anthem, and it’s gotten many of the usual haters on the war path.
Here’s Swanson on Thursday:
“Taylor Swift, most popular female singer in America today, released a song promoting the Leviticus 16 list of abominations, pretty much. ‘You Need to Calm Down’ is the name of the song, and she’s apparently telling God to calm down about all of his ethical concerns. I don’t think it’s going to be effective, but that’s what she’s doing.”
Swanson then goes on to spin and twist the message of Swift’s song saying the song is intended to persecute Christians who “don’t want to celebrate homosexual heathen rights and rituals.”
What a douche.
Swanson continues from there telling his listeners that Swift looks down on Christians and thinks they are “poor and dumb.”
He continued thusly:
“So what do we say to Taylor Swift and her new concoction ‘You Need to Calm Down’? I think we just tell Taylor Swift that she’s a fool. That she doesn’t fear God, and sooner or later, God will cut her down. And may she be broken at the Cross of Jesus Christ and realize she’s a sinner and she’s a sinner in desperate need of a savior, and that’s the message for all of us.”
• Donald Trump has named his first openly gay high-level appointment – homocon Richard Grenell as ambassador to Germany. You’ll recall Grenell served as Mitt Romney’s foreign policy spokesman in 2012 for two seconds until right-wing conservatives called for his dismissal because gay.
• And by the way – if you’re enjoying the Labor Day weekend (or any weekend for that matter) say thank you to the unions.
Signed, a proud union member (Actors Equity Association) for 33 years. Happy Labor Day!
Rachel Maddow reports on Ted Cruz, Republican presidential candidate, avoiding directly addressing his association with religious extremists who cited the Bible as justifying executing homosexuals and abortion doctors.
According to Maddow, Cruz’s campaign asked for evidence that the anti-gay rant occurred: “Send me a video or audio where he explicitly says this and I will look at it.”
Video of the vile speech wasn’t enough for Cruz’s people, though. The campaign responded with two words: “Not explicit.”
I think the speech is clear as can be. It goes without saying that it would appear that even “implicit” calls for executing gays would be coolio with Cruz.
Over the weekend, Kevin Swanson hosted Ted Cruz, Mike Huckabee, and Bobby Jindal at the National Religious Liberties Conference in Des Moines, Iowa.
While Swanson has made some pretty insane remarks in the past, this speech verges on performance art. To call this a ‘meltdown’ would be polite.
Check this speech Swanson gave at the conference after interviewing Huckabee and Jindal.
“There are families, we’re talking Christian families, pastors’ families, elders’ families from good, godly churches, whose sons are rebelling, hanging out with homosexuals and getting married and the parents are invited. What would you do if that was the case? Here is what I would do: sackcloth and ashes at the entrance to the church and I’d sit in cow manure and I’d spread it all over my body. That is what I would do and I’m not kidding, I’m not laughing….I’m grieving, I’m mourning, I’m pointing out the problem.
“It’s not a gay time! These are the people with the sores! The gaping sores! The sores that are pussey and gross, and people are coming in and carving happy faces on the sores! That’s not a nice thing to do! Don’t you DARE carve happy faces on open pussey sores! Don’t you ever do that! Don’t you ever do that!
“I tell you don’t do it. Sack cloth and ashes. This is what America needs. America needs to hear the message. We are messed up.
Swanson has often underlined his stone-cold belief that the Old and New Testaments call for the death penalty for gays and lesbians. Not as a metaphor, but literally the execution of folks like me.
And what’s really frightening is Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal and Mike Huckabee were proud to speak at this man’s event.
From God’s “gentle children” comes this message of gays and axe murderers from Christian radio host Kevin Swanson, speaking about Honey Maid’s pro-gay ad campaign:
“When you come down to things like axe murder or homosexuality and you say, ‘we’re really going to promote it and we’re going to encourage everybody in America to engage in this or at least support this thing,’ there will be people on the other side who will take an adamantly opposed position to your support of axe murdering or homosexuality. They will be intolerant, they will be very intolerant of that which is evil, like axe murdering.
“Didn’t God define love? See the problem with this ‘love’ thing is you can define it anyway you want. Homosexuals love their friends and cannibals love their victims, they taste good.”
