Finland Ranks #1 As ‘Happiest’ Nation

The Nordic nation of Finland ranks number one in global happiness for the second year in a row.

While the debate rages on over socialism, some countries with the highest tax rates come out on top

The Nordic nation of Finland ranks number one in global happiness for the second year in a row.

Via Bloomberg:

It beat Nordic peers Denmark, Norway and Iceland in a ranking of 156 countries by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

The ranking saw the U.S. drop one place, to 19th, while people in South Sudan were the least happy.

The results are based on an average of three years of surveys taken by Gallup between 2016 and 2018 and include factors such as gross domestic product, social support from friends and family, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, perceived corruption and recent emotions — both happy and sad.

According to the report published on Wednesday, Finland has witnessed modest but steady gains since 2014, and the country is now “significantly ahead” of other countries in the top 10, the researchers said.

Where In The World Are Gays Happiest?

Planet Romeo, a dating/community site, recently compiled data on public opinion, public behavior and life satisfaction to see how gays around the world felt about their lives in what they call The Gay Happiness Index.

From Advocate.com:

Coming in at number one in all the world as the country where gay men are the happiest is Iceland, followed by Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Uruguay, Canada, Israel, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Luxembourg (where the country’s out prime minister earlier this month became the first national leader in a legal same-sex marriage).

The United States ranks 26th on the list. The map below shows the highest-ranked countries appearing in green, with the lowest-ranked countries in red.

Worth noting in your travel plans: the 10 countries where gays are least happy – Kazakhstan, Ghana, Cameroon, Iran, Nigeria, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Sudan, and Uganda.

Amazing Night In Florida As Same-Sex Marriage Begins

What a gorgeous night for marriage in Florida last evening as marriage equality finally came to the Sunshine State.

Lots of joy being shared by Equality Florida on Twitter, here’s just a few. Plus, a video from the first ceremonies to take place in Broward County compiled by the Miami Herald.

Big props to Joe Jervis for following the celebrations over JoeMyGod.

And then there was the midnight wedding of Aaron Huntsman & William Lee Jones, who were the plaintiffs in the Monroe County/Key West lawsuit.

Pajamas or naked?

A recent survey conducted by Cotton USA found that couples who sleep naked have happier relationships and have more sex.

57% of those who reported sleeping naked said they felt happy, compared with 48% of pajama wearers and 43% of nightie wearers.

Also addressed in the survey were general sleeping habits and relationships.

No surprise that dirty clothes on the floor, eating in bed, wearing sock to bed, clutter and beds left unmade are big turn-offs.

That being said – I would have a problem NOT having Bruno the wonder dog sleeping with me.

Fortunately, hot hubby Michael isn’t worried about the Brun.

Boxer Duncan Lou Who will steal your heart

World famous and inspirational Duncan Lou Who, the two legged boxer puppy goes to the beach for the first time, along with Mane (who was featured in Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair and The Shake Book), Rou, Ducky and Miso.

Handsome Duncan was born with severely deformed rear legs that had to be removed. He has a wheel chair, but can’t stand to use it. So we let him be free and just walk on his two legs.

Although there is some slow-motion footage, Duncan is clearly very fast. And that’s some serious joy on the mug.
