Official Trailer for Upcoming CBS Series “Supergirl”

“I didn’t travel 2,000 light years to be someone’s assistant…”

Official synopsis:

SUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.

Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret.

Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats.

Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime.

This Fall on Mondays on CBS at 8pm.

Also starring Broadway’s Jeremy Jordan.

First Look At CBS’ Supergirl

As production begins on the upcoming CBS pilot for Supergirl (exec produced by Greg Berlanti), we get our first look at what the Girl Of Steel will look like in costume.

See the pic above of Melissa Benoist (GLEE, Whiplash) as “Kara Danvers/Kara Zor-el” in her costume designed by 3-time Oscar winner Colleen Atwood, who also designed the costumes for current DC Comics TV series Arrow and The Flash.

Looking to land in the CBS schedule for 2015/2016 season, the show will follow Kara as she comes to Earth as a 24 year old and learns to become the super-hero she’s meant to be.

In addition to Benoist, the cast includes Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal, Brothers & Sisters), who will play Kara’s tough boss, Cat Grant; plus, Broadway favorite Laura Benanti in a major recurring role as Kara’s birth mother, “Alura.”

Of course, for the serious fans, you’ve got to love this bit of casting news: Helen Slater, who starred in the 1984 “Supergirl” feature, and Superman vet Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) have been announced for future episodes but the roles have been kept under wraps.

Looking forward to it!

GOTHAM begins tonight on Fox TV

Tonight on Fox TV network, the newest imagining of the Batman saga begins with GOTHAM.

With (the future police commissioner) James Gordon as a focus, watch as the childhood stories of Batman, Catwoman, the Penguin, the Joker and more unfold.

Advance reviews have been very strong.  I was a huge fan of SMALLVILLE and am enjoying ARROW, so I’ll definitely be checking this out tonight.

CBS signs on for SUPERGIRL series

Supergirl coming to CBS soon

Greg Berlanti, producer of the CW’s ARROW and THE FLASH, has inked a deal to bring the story of Supergirl, Superman’s cousin, to the small screen.

SQUEE!!!!

You’ll recall SMALLVILLE, which chronicled a young Clark Kent growing into his destiny as Superman ran for 10 years on the CW.  That series also featured the character of “Kara” as a recurring role.

The official description reads:

“Born on the planet Krypton, Kara Zor-El escaped amid its destruction years ago.

“Since arriving on Earth, she’s been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin.

“But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.”

Comic book heroes and villains – their private sides

“Heroes/Villains” is the sexy, silly, and awesome photography series from Atlanta artist Philip Bonneau, who describes it on his website as a collection of images “based around adults reconnecting with their childhood and remembering what it was like to pretend.”

Featuring some shirtless, half-naked heroes and villains from the comic book world, Bonneau shows us some rarely seen sides of some of our favorites.  Here are just a few of my favorites (heroes all, of course).  Make sure you check out more on Gay.net, and head over to Philip’s website.

Batbear and Robin may be my favorite.  Thoughts?
