Bristol Palin Attacks A-List Celebs For Not Performing At Trump Inauguration

(photo via eltonjohn.com)

Bristol Palin, who’s biggest claim to fame is becoming an unmarried teen mother as the daughter of a Republican part-time politician, took to her blog to rant about the number of celebrities who have turned down performing at the upcoming inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump:

If Donald Trump were still just a regular old billionaire and threw a party at Trump Tower in New York City, celebrities would be lined up out the door, and the most famous artists would be pining for a chance to perform.

But because he will be inaugurated as the next Republican president in January, these same mega-celebrities, who would normally drool over an invitation to sing for the president, want no part of it.

Trump’s inauguration team sought out some of the world’s greatest musicians, but nearly all of them have refused for fear of backlash or to stand against him politically.

Isn’t it amazing how “not cool” it is to be conservative in the public eye? Either Hollywood is that far off – or we have so many sissies we have in the spot light too scared to stand for what they believe in!

The Pinball Wizard himself, Sir Elton John, quickly shot down any chance he would ever perform for President Trump. In his explanation to The Guardian, Elton delivered a jab at American country music, too, which is surprising considering he stole all their rhinestone outfits.

Palin, who again resides in Alaska with her new husband and is now expecting her third child, goes on to include Kiss, Celine Dion, Garth Brooks, and Aretha Franklin in her attack.

Of course, many things here are inaccurate.

One, Elton John specifically said he didn’t want to perform at the political event because his own views are diametrically opposed to the Donald’s:

“I don’t really want my music to be involved in anything to do with an American election campaign. I’m British. I’ve met Donald Trump, he was very nice to me, it’s nothing personal, his political views are his own, mine are very different, I’m not a Republican in a million years. Why not ask Ted f—ing Nugent? Or one of those f—ing country stars? They’ll do it for you.”

Second, many folks who now know much more about the values and attitudes of the Trumpster, thanks to the campaign, wouldn’t go to a party of his today. He has revealed himself to us, you see. Now we know who he is.

Third, to say Elton John “stole” his rhinestone outfits” from the world of country music is laughable. Please show me a picture of a country artist in the 1970s who dressed as outrageously as John.

“Abstinence-Only” Advocate Bristol Palin Pregnant With Second Child

A woman who made as much as thousands of dollars per appearance to preach abstinence to high school students announced today that she is pregnant with her second “out of wedlock” child.

In her blog post Bristol said that she didn’t “want any lectures” and added, “I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you.”

I think it’s heartbreaking that this child may one day read that his mother referred to this episode as “a huge disappointment.”

I’ll just leave that right there.

Bristol Palin voted off the island of DWTS

Mark Ballas and Bristol Palin voted out of Dancing With The Stars - week 4

Bristol Palin got the hook on Dancing With The Stars last night.  I know her many fans must be bummed.

Via CBS News:

The Bristol effect, the surge of fan votes that kept Bristol Palin afloat and sank better performers, faltered in Week 4 as the 21-year-old Alaskan was sent packin’. Her ouster ends the specter of a rancorous repeat of 2010, when fan votes kept awful, awkward Palin on the show at the expense of much superior dancers. Palin, who is a much better performer now, was still a long notch below the half-dozen superb dancers in this season’s lineup. It isn’t only that Bristol is a mediocre dancer. There have been other performers with her lack of skills or even worse, who were immensely more fun to watch. She’s just very young and a little boring. “We did it , we made it to Week 4, and I’m happy with that. I had an awesome time,” said Palin as parents Todd and Sarah watched from the audience.

Anderson Cooper on Bristol Palin

“Anyone who is on a reality show knows that to get attention, you have to have a have a wardrobe malfunction, throw up, have a breakdown — have a storyline. Bristol Palin is a genius because last night she developed a storyline that made her very sympathetic. I am thinking of starting a job fair for people…who need to get jobs [like] Lindsay Lohan, Bristol Palin. I think they just need to get jobs, stop being on TV!” – Anderson Cooper, speaking on his talk show after Bristol “stormed out” of her Dancing With The Stars rehearsal because her dance partner “wasn’t being supportive.” Bristol once again survived last night’s elimination, leading to screams of “FIXED!” on Twitter.

Bristol Palin paid $262,500 as teen pregnancy prevention spox

Bristol Palin

Bristol Palin was paid $262,500 as a teen pregnancy prevention spokesperson for Candie’s Foundation in 2009. From tax records made available today, that means she was paid almost 7 times what the group disbursed (only $35,000) in grants to actual teen pregnancy health and counseling clinics. From The Candie’s Foundation website:

“A non-profit organization that works to shape the way youth in America think about teen pregnancy and parenthood. Research has shown that teen girls who have been exposed to the foundation and its messages are more likely to view teen pregnancy and parenthood as stressful and negative, and they are more likely to be skeptical of the media’s portrayal of teen pregnancy and parenting. They also think teens should wait longer to have sex than girls who are not aware of the foundation and its messages.”

From ThinkProgress.com:

“Notably, Bristol’s Candie’s Foundation group is run by Neil Cole, an executive at the teenage clothing company Iconix Brand Group. Many critics have pointed out that the Candie’s Foundation appears to be geared towards improving the public image of Cole’s company rather than reducing teen pregnancy.”

So the lesson of the story seems to be: a “do as I say, not as I do” spokesperson can do quite well in the real world. You can draw your own conclusions. Welcome to reality. Reality TV that is.

Bristol Palin Appearance Cancelled Due To Protests

Bristol Palin

Bristol PalinBristol Palin’s upcoming appearance and speech on abstinence at Washington University has been cancelled due to protests from students. At least two petitions were launched to express student’s concerns that university money was being spent to bring Bristol Palin to the University to speak during its Sexual Responsibility Week activities. One Facebook Group statedIt’s not about conservative or liberal, it’s about not wasting our money on people who don’t matter… especially people who are only famous for being the teenage pregnant daughter of a politician. That is not a credential – it’s a gimmick.” There were reports Bristol Palin was to have been paid between $15-30,000 for her speaking engagement. In related news, I will not be speaking at a Napa Valley winery about how to replace Chardonnay with tap water in your daily diet.
