FBI Announces Emails That “Appear To Be Pertinent” To Clinton Email Case

Anthony Weiner and estranged wife Huma Abedin

FBI Director James Comey sent a brief letter to select members of Congress to inform them that, in the process of investigating former Congressman Anthony Weiner’s “sexting” scandal, emails potentially related to Hillary Clinton have been discovered.
Weiner is married to Huma Abedin, a longtime aide to Clinton. Apparently, the laptop used by Weiner to send inappropriate texts to a teenage girl was also used occasionally at home by Abedin.

According to one federal official the emails in question number in the thousands.

From the New York Times:

In a letter to Congress, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, said that emails had surfaced in an unrelated case, and that they “appear to be pertinent to the investigation.”

Mr. Comey said the F.B.I. was taking steps to “determine whether they contain classified information, as well as to assess their importance to our investigation.” He said he did not know how long it would take to review the emails, or whether the new information was significant.

Mr. Trump seized on the F.B.I. action on Friday at a rally in New Hampshire. To cheers of “lock her up” from his supporters, Mr. Trump said: “Hillary Clinton’s corruption is on a scale we have never seen before. We must not let her take her criminal scheme into the Oval Office.”

After deriding the F.B.I. for weeks as inept and corrupt, Mr. Trump went on to praise the law enforcement agency.

“I have great respect for the fact that the F.B.I. and the D.O.J. are now willing to have the courage to right the horrible mistake that they made,” Mr. Trump said, referring also to the Department of Justice. “This was a grave miscarriage of justice that the American people fully understand. It is everybody’s hope that it is about to be corrected.”

While this all sounds delightfully scandalous for Trump and company, the truth is we don’t know what is contained in these emails. There’s no apparent crime here in that Clinton wasn’t “hiding” these emails.

In that all of Clinton’s aides’ email have already been examined, this “new” batch of communications could all be duplicates of what’s already been examined.

Trump is already announcing “corruption” and “criminal schemes” when in fact, Clinton nor her campaign were not in possession of these emails.

As Pete Williams of NBC News reported just now, the e-mails Comey announced today were NOT originally withheld by Clinton or campaign. Williams says that one FBI source told him, “I don’t sense alarm bells going on within the FBI and the Justice Dept.”

Williams, who is not a pundit but a respected straight-up journalist, has more information than any other reporter. According to Williams, the recently discovered emails are not from Hillary Clinton.

What is odd is that Comey shares so little info about the emails. And by doing so, he creates more questions and angst than answers.

Clearly, he was trying to be transparent by announcing the discovery of the emails. Had he waited until after the election, it would have appeared politically motivated.

But by offering so little info (three short paragraphs) it opens the door to a lot of speculation based on no facts.

What should happen quickly, for all Americans, is that he come forward and clarify what it is the FBI believes they have discovered.

UPDATE: Hillary Clinton addressed the newly discovered emails immediately, calling on the FBI to release all info regarding the emails as soon as possible.

Huma Abedin Announces Separation From Husband Anthony Weiner

Anthony Weiner and wife Huma Abedin

Disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner has done it again.

After being caught in a sexting scandal back in 2011, Weiner was forced to resign from Congress.

Some folks never learn nothing.

From the New York Post:

While his wife, Huma Abedin, travels the country campaigning for Hillary Clinton, the disgraced ex-congressman has been sexting with a busty brunette out West — and even sent her a lurid crotch shot with his toddler son in the picture, The Post has learned.

The stay-at-home cad shot the revealing photo while discussing massage parlors “near my old apartment” shortly after 3 a.m. on July 31, 2015, a screen shot of the exchange shows. Weiner was clearly aroused by his conversation with the 40-something divorcee when he abruptly changed the subject.

“Someone just climbed into my bed,” Weiner wrote. “Really?” she responded. Weiner then hit “send” on the cringe-inducing image, which shows a bulge in his white, Jockey-brand boxer briefs and his son cuddled up to his left, wrapped in a light-green blanket.

The object of Weiner’s affections is his polar opposite politically: a self-avowed supporter of Donald Trump and the National Rifle Association who’s used Twitter to bash both President Obama and Clinton.

The exchanges between Weiner and this woman have apparently been going on since February 2015.

Moments ago, Abedin announced she is separating from Weiner:

“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband. Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.”

As many know, Abedin is a long-time aide to Hillary Clinton. Wait for Donald Trump to politicize this indiscretion for his own gain in 3, 2, 1…

When Anthony Weiner’s campaign implodes, it IMPLODES

In a rant rarely seen in a political circles, Anthony Weiner’s communications director Barbara Morgan went off the rails while talking to a reporter at Talking Points Memo.

Former intern for the Weiner campaign, Olivia Nuzzi, published a story on the blog NSFWCORP, which then landed her on the front cover of the Daily News.

On a call to TPM about an unrelated issue, Morgan apparently roared on and on about Nuzzi and her article:

“Fucking slutbag. Nice fucking glamour shot on the cover of the Daily News. Man, see if you ever get a job in this town again,” said Morgan.

According to Morgan, Nuzzi stopped interning for the campaign “like four weeks ago.” Nuzzi’s story on NSFWCORP described her as having spent “four weeks” as a Weiner intern. When asked whether the claims in Nuzzi’s stories were true, Morgan suggested many of them were “bullshit.”

“It’s all bullshit,” she said. “I mean, it’s such bullshit. She could fucking — fucking twat.”

According to Morgan, Nuzzi’s job performance left much to be desired.

“She sucked. She like wasn’t good at setting up events. She was clearly there because she wanted to be seen. Like it was, like, terrible and I had to like – she would like, she would just not show up for work,” said Morgan. “For the four weeks she worked there — she didn’t work weekends, so twenty days total. Of those twenty days, she missed probably five because she would just like not show up and not tell me she wasn’t going to be there. So, yeah, so there’s that.”

Morgan also expressed disbelief that Nuzzi criticized her credentials.

“And then like she had the fucking balls to like trash me in the paper. And be like, ‘His communications director was last the press secretary of the Department of Education in New Jersey,” Morgan said. “You know what? Fuck you, you little cunt. I’m not joking, I am going to sue her.”

Late last night, Morgan issued a statement to Business Insider about the screed:

“In a moment of frustration, I used inappropriate language in what I thought was an off the record conversation. It was wrong and I am very sorry, which is what I said tonight when I called and emailed Olivia to apologize,” said Morgan.

NYC: Mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner drops 9 points in new poll

In the New York City mayoral race, some expected shifting in standing has occurred regarding the current Democratic candidates. Christine Quinn has improved her position from 20% to 25%, and Anthony Weiner has quickly dropped 9 points.

Talking Points Memo has the ins and outs of the first poll taken since “Anthony Weiner ‘sexting’ scandal 2.0” hit the news:

Weiner’s standing in the race has clearly slipped due to the scandal, though he’s not entirely out of contention. The poll showed him in second place in the Democratic primary with 16 percent compared to 25 percent for City Council Speaker Christine Quinn and 14 percent for both Public Advocate Bill de Blasio and former Comptroller Bill Thompson. Prior to the scandal, Weiner had been leading his rivals in multiple polls. The last Marist poll, which was released June 26, had Weiner with 25 percent, Quinn with 20 percent for Quinn, and Thompson with 13 percent. Weiner has dropped nine points since then.

By city election law if no candidate gets 40% in the primary on September 10th, the top two finishers go into a runoff on September 24th.

Rep. Anthony Weiner Confesses To Sending Pic to Woman

Rep. Anthony Weiner confessed today that he had sent inappropriate pictures of himself to about six women over the past several years. He said he has not had any physical relationships with any of the women.

Congressman Weiner is smarter than this. While we all makes mistakes, in this day and age this is simply stupid behavior.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Steve Israel, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, are calling for an investigation into Rep. Weiner’s behavior and to determine whether any official resources were used or any other violation of House rules occurred.

Rep. Weiner on GOP Medicare-Hypocrisy

Last year: “Democrats are killing Medicare!” – Republicans

This year: “We want to kill Medicare!” – Republicans

The Republicans keep saying “today’s seniors won’t see any change in their coverage.” But if you happen to be 54 or 53 or younger – look out. What do you think a health insurance policy will cost a senior at the age of 65 in about 10, 15 years?

From the Center for Economic Policy Reserach: Representative Ryan would replace the current Medicare program with a voucher for people who turn age 65 in 2022 and later. This voucher would be worth $8,000 in for someone turning age 65 in that year. It would rise in step with with the consumer price index and also as people age.

According to the CBO analysis the benefit would cover 32 percent of the cost of a health insurance package equivalent to the current Medicare benefit. This means that the beneficiary would pay 68 percent of the cost of this package.

Using the CBO assumption of 2.5 percent annual inflation, the voucher would have grown to $9,750 by 2030. This means that a Medicare type plan for someone age 65 would be $30,460 under Representative Ryan’s plan, leaving seniors with a bill of $20,700.

According to the Social Security trustees, the benefit for a medium wage earner who first starts collecting benefits at age 65 in 2030 would be $32,200.

Do the math kids. Not looking so good, huh?

Rep. Anthony Weiner asks Tea Party/GOP congress members to give up their government run healthcare

I love this. Rep. Anthony Weiner of NY calls on all of Congress who “want to bring down the size of government” and get rid of “government run health care” to defund and give up their own health plans.

Bravo Congressman Weiner. If the Tea Party and GOP congress hates government run health care and high government spending so much, let’s see them make decisions that affect THEM.
