The bombshell news of the day is the leaked draft of a Supreme Court majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito which indicates the high court is preparing to strike down Roe v. Wade, thereby abolishing a woman’s right to choose whether or not to have an abortion.
The Supreme Court has voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, according to an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and obtained by POLITICO.

Last year, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a challenge to Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban, setting the court up to examine decades of precedent set by Roe.
From Politico:
The draft opinion is a full-throated, unflinching repudiation of the 1973 decision which guaranteed federal constitutional protections of abortion rights and a subsequent 1992 decision – Planned Parenthood v. Casey – that largely maintained the right. “Roe was egregiously wrong from the start,” Alito writes.
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled,” he writes in the document, labeled as the “Opinion of the Court.”
This morning, Chief Justice Roberts confirmed the draft’s authenticity and has ordered an investigation into the leak.
While the statement said the draft provided to Politico was genuine, “it does not represent a decision by the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”

Meanwhile, a new ABC News/Washington Post poll shows a majority of Americans support abortion rights with 70% seeing the issue as a decision to be made by a woman and her doctor, not by lawmakers.
CNN reports 13 states already have laws on the books designed to outlaw abortion immediately if Roe v. Wade is overturned.
