I’ve always been moved by the pure heart and power of “Anthem” from the Broadway musical CHESS. As our country is facing upheaval thanks to the convicted felon in the White House, I’m reminded of one of my favorite performances of “Anthem” – by my friend, the wickedly talented Kerry Ellis (first UK ‘Elphaba’ in WICKED). Not only does she deliver the song with steely-eyed focus, Kerry throws in a couple of optional high notes for good measure. Accompanied here by legendary rocker Brian May of QUEEN fame with whom she worked on several projects after she created the role of “Meat” in the original London cast of We Will Rock You. Prepare yourself. This. Is. Fantastic.
