• Washington Blade: A married Black lesbian couple ran for their lives as they were chased, threatened at gunpoint, and nearly killed in a what appears to be a racially motivated hate crime in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, on July 20.

• The Advocate: The parents of a transgender teen who died by suicide after persistent bullying in school have sued a school district in Alabama.
• AP News: Florida’s Republican House Speaker Daniel Perez announced today that his chamber will follow Texas’s lead and take up congressional redistricting this fall. Florida currently has 20 Republicans and 8 Democrats serving in the US House.
• Joe.My.God.: U.S. millionaire and trophy hunter Asher Watkins was stalking an African Buffalo. during a South African hunting trip. The buffalo engaged in horn to hand combat and Watkins died as a result of being gored. #BuffaloFTW
