Sen. Katie Britt Caught In Huge Lie In State Of Union Response

During her Republican response to President Biden’s State of the Union address, Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) breathlessly shared the story of a woman who had been repeatedly raped as a 12-year-old upon being brought to the United States for sex-trafficking purposes. Listening to Britt’s version of the details, it’s clear she intended for folks to believe all of this happened in the U.S. under Biden’s watch. It turns out that wasn’t the case at all. She said, with a dramatic delivery:

“We wouldn’t be OK with this happening in a third-world country. This is the United States of America, and it’s past time we start acting like it. President Biden’s border crisis is a disgrace. It’s despicable. And it’s almost entirely preventable.”

But journalist Jonathan Katz did some checking and found the woman actually told her story to Britt along with Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS) during a trip to the Del Rio Sector back last January. And it’s all documented on Blackburn’s website. It turns out the crimes described didn’t occur in the United States. They took place in Mexico. And they happened, as hideous as they are, between 2004 and 2008. The president at the time was George W. Bush. Biden wasn’t even vice-president yet. Katz breaks it all down in the clip below. https://twitter.com/NickKnudsenUS/status/1766308578904998127
