“Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” Finally Reaches #1 On Billboard Hot 100

Sixty-five years after its 1958 release, Brenda Lee‘s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” has finally hit the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. https://twitter.com/BrendaLeeMusic_/status/1732085660750643423 The Christmas classic made it to #2 each of the last four holiday seasons but hadn’t surpassed Mariah Carey’s mega-holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas is You” – until now. The new chart achievement breaks the record for longest climb to #1 in Hot 100 history (65 years after release). Plus, Lee becomes the oldest artist to reach #1 in Hot 100 history. She turns 79 next week. This marks Ms. Lee’s third #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 following “I’m Sorry” and “I Want to Be Wanted,” which both reached pole position in 1960. Lee was only 13 years old when she recorded the song.
