Report: George Santos Had Drag Alter Ego ‘Kitara’

Reporter Marisa Kabas dropped the news today that lying congressman George Santos (aka Anthony Devolder) had a drag alter ego as a teen/young adult in Brazil named “Kitara.” Because…of course. We know that prior to politics, “Anthony Devolder” was one of the names/aliases Santos used. In my earlier report about Santos taking GoFundMe money in 2016 intended for the sick dog of a homeless, disabled Veteran, that was the name he used. Kabas shared on Twitter that she’d been in contact with a Brazilian drag queen named Eula Rochard who says they were friends with Santos when he was younger and also provided a photo of “Anthony” as his drag persona, “Kitara.”

I conducted my interview with Eula along with a translator—a friend of mine from Brazil—so the responses I’m sharing are English translations from Portuguese.

Eula saw a story about Santos on Brazilian news and was sure was it was him. She shared the news with a group of friends and everyone doubted her. So she looked for an old picture to confirm, and she decided to post it to social media to prove to her friends that she was right.

The important context here is that Santos ran as a far right candidate, and continues to align himself with transphobes/homophobes who target drag shows with violence.
