“Not Losing You” is a two minute PSA micro-movie supporting trans youth amid the unrelenting anti-trans and anti-LGBTQ legislation sweeping the U.S., and during the 2024 election season. “Not Losing You” follows a blue-collar farming family in rural America — specifically the relationship between a father, Fuller (Michael Patrick McGill), and his teenage daughter, Holly (Sophie S.). Holly, assigned male at birth, comes out to her father as a trans girl. Following an argument earlier that day over what clothing a trans daughter can wear and what name she can use, Fuller makes a decision that will change both of their lives. He doesn’t know what kind of support his daughter will need. But he knows, that if he doesn’t give her his support and love, he could lose her. I find the brevity of the two-minute video only makes the message more impactful. You can learn more about this story at the web series, “Angry Gay Grandpa.”
