From the Washington Post:
The move marks the latest setback for the embattled royal as the scandal over Andrew’s ties to the convicted American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein continues to cast a long shadow.
“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Thursday night.
“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the statement continued.
In addition, the palace confirmed that “formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease” for Andrew at Royal Lodge, a 30-room mansion where he has lived for over two decades, and he will “move to alternative private accommodation.”
These actions are just the latest by the royal family in trying to handle the fallout from a long-running scandal over claims that Andrew had sex with Virginia Giuffre, an American who alleged she was trafficked as a teenager by Epstein.
