Netflix has officially announced the premiere date for Season 2 of the critically-acclaimed queer coming-of-age series, Heartstopper, based on the graphic novels of the same name by Alise Oseman.

August 3 will see the return of Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) as they learn to navigate young love, school pressures and more over the new 8-episode season.

Meanwhile, their friends Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) will face new challenges, as Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) explore if they can be more than friends.

Along the way there are exams to pass, a school trip to Paris, and a prom to plan as the gang journeys through the next stages of life, love, and friendship.

The first season of Heartstopper scored a 100 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes and reached Netflix’s Top Ten list in more than 50 countries.

Season 1 was so successful, Netflix very quickly green lit two more seasons.

In the announcement video below, Connor shares that Oseman’s writing for Season 2 feels “cool and fresh” and has “a different vibe from Season 1.”
