Award-winning recording artist Matt Zarley covers Chappell Roan’s hit “Good Luck, Babe!” As Matt shares in his release notes, the song is about “wishing good luck to someone who is denying fate” as it tracks a relationship between two women that goes awry when one can’t accept her feelings. Roan has shared in interviews she penned the song in 3 minutes – “It all came out, and I didn’t add anything when I wrote it all down. It was a perfect storm.” I actually prefer Matt’s version – his vocals are so clear and uncomplicated, and the guitar-driven arrangement feels very accessible.
