Matt Zarley Gives Billy Porter’s “TIME” A Stunning New Life

Award-winning out recording artist Matt Zarley drops his stunning new cover of Billy Porter’s moving musical meditation, “TIME.”

Matt’s effortless, shimmering vocals — ranging from intimate to expansive power-pop — pair perfectly with the lush, cinematic arrangement.

The video, a pensive exploration of human connection, was shot in multiple locations across the U.S. including New York City, Los Angeles, Palm Springs, and Las Vegas.

Full disclosure: Matt asked me to handle camera duties when he came to shoot in Las Vegas. That said, I basically hit “on” and “off” as Matt brought his creative vision to life in the desert shots.

The song, written by Brian Steckler and Emmy/Grammy/3-time Tony Award winner Billy Porter, originally appeared on Porter’s 2005 album, At The Corner Of Broadway And Soul.

Matt and Billy met in New York City when they were both 20, pursuing their Broadway dreams (p.s. they got there). The two have remained lifelong friends and often collaborated on music projects.

“The song’s timeless message felt especially poignant right now…and seems like the ideal time to sing it myself,” shares Matt.

Choreographer Mia Michaels brought the track to national attention in 2007 when she used “TIME” for a tribute to her father on the hit competition show, “So You Think You Can Dance.”

It became the standout moment of Season 3, and the song was eventually featured on 3 different seasons of the show.

Matt’s new single “TIME” is available now wherever you consume music. Enjoy 🙂
