Some news items you might have missed:
• New York Times: Gov. Gavin Newsom and Democratic state lawmakers moved quickly to create new districts that could help their party flip five congressional seats. Voters will decide in November 5 special election.
• Entertainment Tonight: Grammy winner Lil Nas X gave fans a fright late Wednesday night, as he wandered Ventura Blvd. in Studio City, California, in nothing but his underwear. Police reportedly transported him to a local hospital for a possible overdose and placed him under arrest for battery on a police officer.
• Washington Blade: The Justice Department has asked hospitals to turn over sensitive information on medical care for trans youth.

• Axios: New polling shows Gov. Gavin Newsom’s bid to redraw California’s congressional seat map has support from 57% of California voters versus 35% who opposed – a 22-point advantage. On to the polls!
• New York Times: A federal judge on Thursday ruled that former Trump attorney Alina Habba has been serving as New Jersey’s acting U.S. attorney without legal authority: “She is not currently qualified to exercise the functions and duties of the office in an acting capacity.”
Trump first noticed Habba (who has no experience in criminal law) when she was representing a parking garage in Newark, N.J.
