Labor Department: U.S. Economy Added 177K Jobs In April

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports American employers added a 177,000 jobs in April and the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.2 percent. Economists had predicted gains along the lines of 135,000 new jobs. The employment gains in Feb. and March, however, were revised down  by 58,000.

The number of long-term unemployed (those jobless for 27 weeks or more) increased by 179,000 to 1.7 million. Here’s more from ABC News.
