During a press event today, Vice President JD Vance seems to have implied — in a cringe-worthy, homophobic way — that Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico is gay.
MAN IN CROWD: “We love you, JD!”
JD VANCE: “I love you too sir. In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I’m the vice president, not James Talarico.”
In other remarks, Vance took a previous statement by Talarico expressing compassion for trans kids and twisted it into an ugly insinuation.
It’s worth noting that most recent polls show Talarico leading Republican Ken Paxton in the Senate race by 4-6 points.
