Some news items you might have missed: • OUT: If you’ve seen the current psychological thriller Saltburn (starring Jacob Elordi), you know about a certain scene in a bathtub. Elordi dropped by The Tonight Show this week and was invited to smell a scented candle inspired by that infamous scene. He’s a good sport… https://twitter.com/PopBase/status/1748234331611656369 • Washington Blade: The Massachusetts state Senate unanimously passed a bill Thursday to repeal several archaic criminal laws that were still on the books, including the state’s sodomy law and a law critics have dubbed the “walking while trans” law. • Politico: Florida Republican lawmakers are considering retooling their anti-LGBTQ book-banning law now that it’s gotten out of control with thousands of books being objected to. • The Intellectualist: Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) – who may or may not be closeted – said with a straight face (pardon the pun) on TV that conservatives “are tolerant…you leave me alone, I’ll leave you alone.” This from the folks who want to ban books, drag shows, and healthcare for transgender people. https://twitter.com/highbrow_nobrow/status/1748399923999932802 • Metro Weekly: Three transgender candidates for the Ohio Legislature who had been threatened with being removed from this year’s primary ballot for not including their “deadnames” on their election paperwork have been cleared to run for office. • Axios: Sarasota police closed a sexual battery investigation into former Florida GOP Chair Christian Ziegler but found probable cause for a different charge after Ziegler showed them a video he took of the alleged sexual encounter. What he thought would keep him from being charged with rape may get him convicted of “video voyeurism.” https://twitter.com/axios/status/1748453203736133711
