Legendary gay leading man Rock Hudson is the subject of a new documentary from HBO, Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed.
Hudson was one of the top-shelf leading men in Hollywood in the 1950s and 1960s, known for his work with director Douglas Sirk on The Magnificent Obsession, All That Heaven Allows, and Written on the Wind. He also earned an Oscar nomination for his work in the 1956 film Giant.
The film puts a spotlight on the star’s life in the Hollywood closet, as well as his tragic death from AIDS-related complications in 1985. While friends and colleagues in the film industry knew he was gay, Hudson kept his private life a secret throughout his life.
Documentaries are my new jam lately, so I’m looking forward to this.
Rock Hudson: All That Heaven Allowed lands on HBO and MAX June 28.
