Weeks ago, CNN offered to host a presidential debate in Atlanta on October 23 between Vice President Kamala Harris and convicted felon Donald Trump. Harris accepted, but Trump declined following his poor debate performance against Harris on September 10. Defending his decision, Trump said it was “too late” in the campaign cycle for a debate even though he debated President Biden on October 22 back in 2020. Today, CNN adjusted its offer inviting both Trump and Harris to participate in town hall events with voters. The Harris campaign immediately accepted the network’s invitation slamming Trump’s decision to duck the CNN debate as “disservice to the American people.” “It is clear Trump would rather cocoon himself in safe spaces and avoid real questions,” wrote campaign chair Jen O’Malley Dillon in a statement. “Trump fears another debate where VP Harris would hold him accountable.”
