Truth-challenged Rep. George Santos (R-NY) has announced he will step down from his congressional committee assignments to focus on clearing up his fabricated resume issues.
“The congressman is reserving his seats on his assigned committees until he has been properly cleared of both campaign and personal financial investigations,” said his spokeswoman, Naysa Woomer.
The announcement follows a closed-door meeting between Santos and House GOP leadership.

Via Patch New York:
Santos is not accepting any committee assignments “until things get cleared up,” a long time GOP member told CNBC.
Santos has come under intense scrutiny since winning the November election for the 3rd Congressional District for fabricating parts of his resume and other aspects of his background.
He faces numerous calls for his resignation from Congress, including from GOP leaders in Nassau County. Several investigations are underway about his finances.
Santos was a member of the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology and the Committee on Small Business.

Victoria and Jonathan Regor each contributed $2,800—the max amount—to George Santos' first bid for a House seat. Their listed address was 45 New Mexico Street in New Jersey.
Various databases suggest those names don't exist. Neither does that address. 👀https://t.co/ZVIGYjoqYY

NEW: George Santos reported meals at a Miami Beach diner. The diner found no record of them.
He reported parking at a Miami Beach lot. The city says the dollar amounts would be impossible.

As long as#GeorgeSantos remains in Congress & Republicans support, protect, defend & encourage him, the more damage is done to this country, an overwhelming majority in #NY03 want him gone, feel they were conned & regret voting for him#FreshResistshttps://t.co/KdmVel9yxx
