Jimmy Kimmel clapped back at Tucker Carlson after the Fox News talking head took aim at Jimmy after the Department of Energy released a report (described as “low confidence”) that COVID may have leaked from a lab in China.
At this point, 8 federal agencies have looked at the origins of COVID: 4 believe it came from natural transmission, two say it was a lab leak, and two are still undecided.
Armed with the Department of Energy’s latest “low confidence” assessment, Tucker took a look back and accused Jimmy of “reading talking points from a foreign government” during a monologue in April 2020.
Jimmy clapped back at Carlson saying being accused of reading talking points from a foreign government would almost be funny “coming from someone as loathsome and UnAmerican as Tucker.” Jimmy then played clips of Carlson siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin over and over again.
“There he is, Putin’s favorite little nesting doll,” Kimmel said.
Also in Jimmy’s opening monologue:
Rupert Murdoch acknowledged that Fox News hosts knowingly endorsed false stolen election claims and that they leaked confidential information about Biden’s campaign ads.
Marjorie Taylor Greene took to Twitter to talk about being “attacked” by an “insane woman.”
Freshman Congressman Andrew Ogles of Tennessee admitted that the international relations degree he received was actually a degree in “liberal studies,”
And Jimmy checks in with “George Santos” (Nelson Franklin) to see what he’s up to.
