President Nayib Bukele of El Salvador declared he would not return Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States, saying it would be akin to smuggling “a terrorist” into the U.S. Tthe Trump administration has already admitted in federal court that the deportation of Mr. Abrego was an “administrative error.”

From the New York Times:
The Trump administration has been fighting for days against a judge’s order to return a wrongfully deported Maryland man to the United States.
But this meeting in the Oval Office was the most clear example yet that Trump had no intention of returning Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia to the United States, despite the Supreme Court instructions the U.S. government to take steps to return the Salvadoran migrant.
Trump and Stephen Miller essentially scoffed at the Supreme Court’s ability to direct the administration to take any action on foreign policy and made clear that if anyone was going to return Garcia to the United States, it would have to be Bukele.
Bukele rejected any notion he would return the father of three who has no criminal record.
COLLINS: Can President Bukele weigh in on this? Do you plan to return Garcia?
BUKELE: How can I smuggle a terrorist into the United States? Of course I’m not going to do it. The question is preposterous TRUMP: These are sick people pic.twitter.com/y2FhtZsAhL — Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) April 14, 2025
Bukele’s statement indicates that the U.S. government is NOT facilitating Abrego Garcia’s return, even by DOJ’s own self-serving definition.
Instead, the U.S. is pretending it doesn’t have the power. And Bukele is pretending he doesn’t have the power.

During that same press event, Donald Trump blamed Ukraine President Zelenskyy for “starting a war” with Russia. Fact-check: Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Trump has fully turned on Zelenskyy: “He’s always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don’t start a war against somebody that’s 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles.” pic.twitter.com/1hBWeyu2hg
