Carl Nassib, the first out active player in the NFL, has made the final roster for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 season. Nassib was named to the 53-man roster following the conclusion of the preseason. After playing as a defensive end during his first six seasons in the NFL, the 29-year-old will now shift to outside linebacker. Both are defensive positions: defensive ends play on the line, while outside linebackers play just behind the line outside the interior. https://twitter.com/outsports/status/1567510422852362242 Outsports reports that in the preseason, “Nassib played in a couple games and recorded two total tackles with one assist.” In his previous two seasons with the Bucs (2018 and 2019), he started 17 games and recorded 63 tackles. Nassib made history when he came out in the summer of 2021 while playing for the Las Vegas Raiders. He was released by the Raiders this past Spring in a cost cutting move, and was signed by the Bucs in August to a one-year contract. His acquisition as an out NFL player is a big step forward for inclusivity in professional football. The Buccaneers face off against the Dallas Cowboys in this week’s Sunday Night Football matchup. Congrats Carl, for your tenacity and skill. Now, when do folks get to see Carl Nassib shirtless? https://twitter.com/TheAdvocateMag/status/1567573538562838531
