Even though Broadway box office traditionally drops in January following the bustling holiday season, the last week of January saw the 23 productions currently on the Great While Way grossing $25,705,039, with audience capacity inching up to 94% overall.
Thirteen shows grossed over $1 million with The Phantom of the Opera, Funny Girl and Hamilton scoring the top three spots.
Fourteen of the 23 shows played to 95% capacity or greater while only three played to 80% or less (none below 77% capacity).
It’s worth noting that Phantom, which celebrated its 35th and final anniversary on Broadway last week, grossed $2,483,532 playing to 100% capacity.
In the final week of its Broadway run, “The Piano Lesson” played to 100% capacity. https://t.co/s87iUs9nhd

All in all, it sounds like Broadway is doing pretty well for a normally slow time of year.
Rave reviews and very “hot” word of mouth put Some Like It Hot, currently playing at the Shubert Theater, at the top of my “must-see” list. It’s wo starting at $66.

Go see a Broadway show or a local production in your town. Nothing like seeing live theater.
