
Music has always been an integral touchstone to important moments in my history, as well as my go-to for emotional release.
That’s probably why I revisit this clip of Bette Midler singing ‘Wind Beneath My Wings’ at a memorial at Yankee Stadium shortly after the horrific bombings on 9/11.
This encapsulates so much of what we felt then and still feel today. Bette’s emotionally raw and unfiltered “thank you” at the 4:30 mark is as cathartic as it is heartfelt.
