The Sedgwick County Zoo (SCZ) welcomed a new baby chimpanzee on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Local NBC News affiliate KSN reports that as mama Mahale was in labor, the docs noticed she was having some trouble so they made the decision to step in and deliver baby Kucheza via C-section.
Btw – Kucheza (koo-CHAY-zuh) means “play” in Swahili.
Due to low oxygen levels, Kucheza received some treatment and bottle feedings from the animal care team before being reunited with his mom.
