New Whitney Houston Bio + Measles Outbreak Spreads + More

Some news stories for you as we kick off the week:

• Queerty: The new book — Holding Lightning: The Life, Loves And Art Of Whitney Houston — is said to be “the first major biography” about Whitney. The new book not only confirms Robyn Crawford’s account of their romantic relationship, but provides further details about the strength of their early connection.

• Attitude Magazine: Luke Evans says he knows ‘several actors’ in Hollywood who have chosen not to come out. Evans, who came out publicly in 2002, said in a recent interview, “It wasn’t easy being the only one who was out for quite a long time.”

• LGBTQ Nation: Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) lied at a rally this past Friday declaring schools are giving kids gender-affirming care behind their parents’ backs. This is literally not happening. Schools can’t afford crayons let alone having a surgeon on standby.

• Gothamist: Gov. Kathy Hochul declared a disaster emergency today in response to the spread of measles across rural parts of the state as the outbreak in Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania has surpassed 1,000 measles cases this year making it the largest state outbreak in more than three decades.

• NBC News: We all had this on our bingo cards – Fox News has signed former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt as an on-air contributor.  Leavitt, 29,  said she was stepping down in late August to spend more time with her family.

• Angel Awards: TV legend Chuck Lorre, 10-time Emmy nominee & creator of hit sitcoms including The Big Bang Theory, totally roasted Donald Trump as he accepted the prestigious Founders Angel Award at the annual Project Angel Food gala on September 26, 2026.
